About The Project
Arena Geo were appointed by the developer to manage the geotechnical risks and help get the project approval by the local planning authority.
The Phase 1 and 2 ground investigation identified areas of dissolution features in the underlying chalk geology (also termed “sinkholes”) that presented a subsidence risk to future houses, commercial units and highways infrastructure.
Arena Geo directly liaised with the LPA to address their concerns and undertook several types of ground investigation to identify areas of sinkholes and provide value-engineered mitigations.
Chalk can be difficult material to handle as it is highly weather susceptible, but we provided an earthworks specification for the large areas of cut and fill to reduce waste.
We also provide advice on SuDS and provided mitigations to avoid the potential creation of any new dissolution features.
